Aussie Pet Mobile in the York Region is Donating $5 to the OSPCA from every Pet Groom in June.
Owner Vince Yang launched Aussie Pet Mobile in Toronto’s York region early this year. They have been rolling along with great strides and have been looking for ways to give back to the community. The Ontario SPCA was a great fit and Vince has committed to donating $5 from every groom in the month of June 2012 to the OSPCA. Grooming paws for a cause is where it’s at!
Brittany Kaufman of the Ontario SPCA welcomes the donations. “95% of our support comes from donors. The money donated by Aussie Pet Mobile will go directly towards basic needs. Food, shelter and vaccinations are of utmost importance. To put things in perspective, in 2011 the OSPCA sheltered 4896 dogs and 15174 cats. The OSPCA is grateful for support of businesses such as Aussie Pet Mobile.”

I was so impressed with this service having just heard about it only to have my expectations dashed when reading about your donation to OSPCA.
You may not be aware of the controversy surrounding the present OSPCA, their management and their Board of Directors. These are the same people who, in May of 2010, attempted to kill all 350 animals in their Newmarket shelter. They claimed a “virulent strain of ringworm” made it necessary. Only when MPP Frank Klees of Newmarket demanded in the Ontario Legislature they stop the killing was it finally halted but not before 102 animals were killed.
This organization has turned into an embarrassment for the Liberal government. They do not spend donations on the animals they spend them on incredibly inflated salaries, annual meetings at Casino Rama and sending their “agents” on trips to Florida to attend a meeting or how about the incredible legal fees they pay for out of court settlements and cases which they have once again bungled. I ask you to please do your research before supporting this organization again. A simple Google search on OSPCA ringworm will bring up lots of information to verify my claims As long as we have irresponsible pet owners, we need OSPCA. What we dont’ need are the management and Board of Directors who are in place now whose only priority is money. If you want to help, give donations to the many, many small shelters, clinics, fosters and rescues who take up the slack form OSPCA. Look at their website. Their capacity at the Newmarket shelter after a $250,000 renovation was reduced from 400 to 65 yet there are never more than 30 animals and most of them are hamsters, reptiles and guinea pigs. If you want to help the animals some of the branches OSPCA takes in then please do so by donating food or accessories which will benefit the animals.
